Grupo
Luma are a six-piece Latin American folk/fusion group led by Chilean
brothers Francisco & Oscar Carrasco. The
band presents some of the brothers’ original compositions from the
past 30 years and their own individual arrangements of Latin American
classics.
Playing
an exciting and diverse range of instruments including the Andean
Charango and Quena (bamboo flute), the Venezuelan Cuatro, Peruvian
Cajon and Argentinian Bombo, a range of Latin American drums &
percussion, as well as Trumpet, Saxophone, Flute, Guitar and Bass
guitar, the band takes the audience on a journey of the continent
through a rich musical heritage.
Members
of Grupo Luma are: Francisco & Oscar Carrasco, P. Max Alder, Erik
Bichard, Phil Hargreaves and Fran Bass. In 2023 the band toured
nationally to remember the 50th Anniversary of the loss of
democracy through a brutal Military coup in Chile and the Chilean
popular song movement performing at festivals and events across the
UK.

Grupo
Luma play a wide variety of rhythms from across the South American
continent, including such party favourites as Cumbia, Bolero and Tango,
while including nods to Caribbean and African Musics, with hints of
Jazz and Rock.
